The index contains all the words and phrases extracted from all results found during the search. Each row of the index represents one word or phrase and has columns for:
·
Relevance (based on relevance to marked index words or results),
·
Name (the actual word or phrase), and
·
#Results (the total number of results the word or phrase appears in).
Legal index words must not appear in the StopWords.txt file and must have 2 or more characters. Every word in a phrase must be a legal word. The StopWords.txt file is modified using the Tools | Add StopWords and Tools | Remove StopWords menu items.
The slider control for Index determines the number of words in the index. The futher the slider is over to the right, the more results a word must be in (the #Results column) in order to be present.
Each word also has a relevance bar whose length is calculated automatically whenever a word or result is marked. The relevance bar shows how relevant or "similar" the word is to the marked word or result. By sorting index words by relevance, you can quickly see which ones are most closely associated with any marked word or result. Relevance bars can be either red or blue. Red bars mean the word appears in the marked result, blue bars mean the word does not appear in the marked result. Of course, there must be at least one marked result for any index words to have a red bar.
Once you have identified interesting words or phrases you can quickly search on them. Just mark the words or phrases, and then click the Search button or press the shortcut key (Alt-S). This starts a search using the marked words and phrases as the words to search on. You can also right-click on the index word/phrase and then choose the Quick Search item to immediately search on a index word/phrase.
