Filtering Search Words

Top  Previous  Next

The extracted words can be filtered in three ways:

You can find all extracted words that contain, or do not contain, certain text.
You can find all extracted words which may be people.
You can find all extracted words which may be websites.

To filter extracted words, do the following steps.

Move the extracted words slider all the way to the right to show the maximum number of words
Click one of the Words | Filter For ... menu items
When using the Words | Filter For Text menu item

If you want words that contain certain text, enter the text in the include text box

If you want words that do NOT contain certain text, enter the text in the exclude text box

       Click the Apply Filter button

To remove the Filter, click the Index | Filter For ... menu item again and it will toggle off.

The shortcut key for text filtering is Ctrl-T (remember to move the Words slider all the way to the right to get all the words).

The shortcut key for people filtering is Ctrl-P (remember to move the Words slider all the way to the right to get all the people).

The shortcut key for website filtering is Ctrl-W (remember to move the Words slider all the way to the right to get all the websites).

The people filtering relies on the CommonNames.txt file which contains common first names. You can edit this file to include or exclude names. The file is sorted each time it is loaded so do not worry about order when editting the file.

The website filtering relies on the DomainNames.txt file which contains domain extensions. This file should not be editted since it already contains all legal domain extensions such as .com, .edu, .org, and so on.
