1) How exactly do I
register iMetaSearch?
- If you see this pop-up message, then it's time to
register.

- Start by clicking the Register button or the Help |
Register menu item.

- Then click the Register button on the dialog box.

- Now the Kagi registration screen pops up, press the
Next button.

- Enter your information (name, email, country, receipt
type) and click the Next button.

- Click Next again after reading the order summary.

- Fill in your credit card information and zip code (no,
you can’t see my credit card!).

- Now click the purchase button to actually register
iMetaSearch.

- Wait for about 30 seconds while processing takes place.
Then you should see the following screen. We recommend
you click the Save As Text button to save your order
details in the Order Summary iMetaSearch.txt file for
future reference. You order information will also be sent
to you by email.

- After clicking the Save As Text button, then click the
Save button to save the order information in the Order
Summary iMetaSearch.txt file. Your order information will
also be sent to you by email.

- Finally, click the Finish button.

- Last, iMetaSearch will tell you registration was
successful. Click the OK button and then iMetaSearch will
send your browser to our thank you page.

- If you need to register iMetaSearch manually later on,
for example if you upgrade to a new computer, just click
the Help | Register menu item, enter your email and code
from either the Order Summary iMetaSearch.txt file or
your email receipt, and click OK.
2) How is this search program different from
Google?
Google does an excellent job of returning a list of web
pages that match the words or phrases typed in by a user.
Usually a relevant web page is in the first page of
results.
iMetaSearch differs by
- gathering results from many engines, and this includes
not only search engines, but also searches on blogs,
groups, books, papers, and more.
- analyzing results to make it easier to find relevant
ones through indexing, clustering, and updating the
relevance of each index word or result whenever you mark
an interesting result or word. This dynamic re-ordering
of results and index words based on what interests you is
one of the most important features.
- exporting index words and results to CSV files (for
Microsoft Excel) and results to HTML files so you can use
other programs to further process results for marketing,
research, or other purposes.
- fixing, importing, or creating engines within
iMetaSearch, allowing you to add your own web sources on
the fly, which can also be shared with other iMetaSearch
users.
3) What is a cluster?
A cluster is a group of similar results. During analysis,
iMetaSearch groups results into clusters. You can vary the
number of clusters it forms by using the cluster slider to go
from a few groups to many groups.
Having clusters makes it easier to find relevant results,
since you can usually ignore whole clusters at a time, or
find many relevant results together if you find a good
cluster. You can search for relevant results just by looking
at cluster descriptions instead of looking through results
one-by-one.
4) When I export results to Microsoft Excel, the
URL links are just ordinary text. How do I convert the URL
links into clickable links in Excel?
One easy way we have found is the following procedure.
- First, click the URL link in the spreadsheet.
- Then click on the edit box at the top of the screen, as
if you were going to edit the URL text.
- Finally, press the enter key. This replaces the URL
text in the spreadsheet with a URL clickable link.
